This photograph of Cathedral Church of Christ in Lagos was taken in May 1961 by Harrison Forman. It is the oldest cathedral in the Church of Nigeria, having been established in 1869. The current building was commissioned in 1924 and completed in 1946 (Cathedral Church of Christ 2020).

The image depicts an imposing white stone edifice, in a Gothic style. It towers over its environment and community. The cloudy sky lends the cathedral a further air of mystery and power.
