Description
  • Photograph of Birmingham's first City Council Woman, Miss Nina Miglionico. The slogan behind Ms. Miglionico originally said, "Cities are what men make of them." Miss Miglionico suggested the sign be changed in order to be more inclusive. She was told such a change would be too expensive. Miss Nina suggested the city could remove the "N" from "men" and turn the "M" upside down in order to serve as a "W". After the correction was made, the city presented Miss Miglionico with the extra "N".
