  • The Alabama State Coliseum, located at Montgomery, is one of the most unique structures of its kind. The Coliseum is circular in plan with a diameter of 340 feet and contains an oval arena 130 feet by 260 feet surrounded by 8,528 permanent chair seats. The roof is a barrel arch consisting of eleven segmental arches of reinforced concrete rising to 100 feet above the arena. The Coliseum, focal point for Alabama's agricultural and livestock program, is also used for rodeos, ice shows, etc. It is the largest State owned Coliseum in the U.S.
