Description
  • Chapple looks at understanding Jesus. To do this he explains the structure of Mark, and that this is a major turning point. He explores this turning point and then moves on to the transfiguration. Chapple explains why Jesus often tells people not to tell what has happened, as the cross is required to make sense of an event. Next, Chapple looks at Understanding discipleship, including the method and content of their training. He then explores the role and responses of disciples. Chapple stresses that disciples must undertand the cross, but also must live under the cross. Chapple explains the importance of looking at the cultural, historical and biblical context of ransom, as Jesus describes his death as a ransom. He looks at Psalm 49 for biblical context, exploring Jesus' death as a subsitution and a redeemer. Jesus as Son of Man.
