- This Chapel was erected in 1873. Room for a staircase to the choir loft had been overlooked. The Sisters of Loretto prayed to St. Joseph. The story goes, that a carpenter came, offered to build one. It took approximately 8 mo. to complete. He left without being paid. The Stairway makes 2 complete 360* turns and has no center pole.
