Gilbert Tennent (1703-1764) was an Irish-American Presbyterian clergyman, and one of the leaders of the Great Awakening. This manuscript contains two sermons by Tennent. "On wine and oil" and "On Christ's care" both refer to Luke 10:34, "And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him." From dates noted in the manuscript, it looks like Tennent wrote these sermons in 1747, then delivered one or both of them again in 1751, 1758, and 1762.
