Description
  • Webb preaches on Ruth 2. Both women are in great need. Naomi has been bereaved three times over; Ruth has been bereaved once. Both women are in a position of great physical, emotional, and social need. Boaz has the capacity to help the women as he is a man of social standing, wealth, authority, and influence. Boaz is obligated to help the women through family ties and under the Mosaic Law. Finally, Boaz evidently loves Ruth and willingly helps her. Naomi sees the hand of God behind the kindness of Boaz. Ruth and Boaz is part of the story of David and Jesus. Through the union of Boaz and Ruth, God actions a greater purpose through Jesus. For us today, our great need is our lack of righteousness, with no means to help ourselves. God redeems us through Jesus. Jesus can save us, confirmed through act of the Resurrection. Jesus has assumed the responsibility and obligation to help us. Finally, Jesus expressed His love for us on the Cross. Webb challenges listeners if they understand their great need and to live in the benefits of our Redeemer.
