  • The Old Dutch Church is the oldest on the Hudson and was made from brick and stone brought from Holland by Frederick Philipse and his wife Katrina von Cortland, in 1690. In the burial-yard adjoining is the grave of Washington Irving and a plain slab with this simple inscription: Washington Irving, Born April 3, 1783. Died November 28. 1859.
