Description
  • The Old Testament background shapes New Testament thought concerning the church. Two perspectives of the church within the New Testament are explored: the assembly figure and the remnant figure. The ecclesia figure encapsulates both earthly spatial meetings alongside the heavenly assembly of believers. The assembly figure stresses the gathering of the church within the presence of God. On the other hand, the remanent perspective finds the church as a small remanent to be saved. Weeks believes that both perspectives belong alongside each other in appreciation of the doctrine of the church. Talk is followed by Q&A (34:59).
