Description
  • Knox preaches on the topic of the Kingdom of God based on Luke 17:22. Jesus' word in the chapter is one of encouragement. God's Kingdom had appeared in Jesus. Verse 22 refers to the Day of the Lord or the Son of Man. God has delegated His dominion to Jesus, the head of man. God's governance of the world is characterised by His long-suffering of sin so that people may be saved. The Flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, the Exile, and the destruction of the Temple were all Days of the Lord. The judgement of God will ultimately be one of vindication for God's people. God's righteousness and salvation are closely related. Relationships create obligations; it is the right thing to do for God to vindicate His people. The Day of the Lord is one of joy for the righteous due to this vindication. One of the truths of the Christian life is endurance as we await God's vindication. We are to take up our Cross as we follow Christ. We are called to endure through prayer and faithfulness.
