John C. Bennett (1903-1995) taught at Pacific School of Religion during 1938-43 and 1970-75. He served as the 11th president of Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He and Rabbi Abraham Heschel formed Clergy and Laity Concerned About the Vietnam War. Bennett, ordained in the Congregational Church, however was not a pacifist.
