  • Norman K. Gottwald, (1926- ) was professor of Old Testament and of Biblical Theology and Ethics at American Baptist Seminary of the West. He received his AB and ThB from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, a BD from Union Theological Seminary, and PhD from Columbia University. He also taught at Pacific School of Religion. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Biblical Studies at New York Theological Seminary. A pioneer in the social critical study of the Hebrew Bible, he served as President of the Society of Biblical Literature in 1992.
