  • Interview of Dr. Ray Atchison on October 26, 1985. The interview was conducted by Celeste King. Dr. Atchison worked in the Registrar's Office at Howard College until he graduated from Howard College in1943. After receiving his Ph.D. in English from Duke University in 1956, he returned to teach English at Howard College. Dr. Atchison also experienced the move from East Lake to the new campus in Homewood. Dr. Atchison served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Alaska. Halfway through his final semester at Howard College, Dr. Atchison was called to active military duty in March, 1943. Dr. Atchison passed away in 2013.
