Description
  • Doyle preaches on the Reformation doctrine of Solus Christus, or Christ Alone. Two main contemporary objections which challenge the doctrine include pressure to add human responsibility to salvation and the outrage generated from a multicultural society in light of an exclusive claim of salvation. The Reformers were insistent on this doctrine due to medieval understanding of the righteousness of Christ. In this view, Christ's work was restorative, removing the original guilt of man. There was a difference between the righteousness of Christ and that required of sinner at judgement. For the Reformers, the righteousness of Christ is the same righteousness of God. Justification by faith covers all of the Christian life. Christ has transferred us from the kingdom of darkness to that of righteousness. By faith we are bound and united with Christ. Doyle urges listeners not to fall into the temptation of moving beyond the doctrine of Christ Alone. Like the Reformers, we must view ourselves living under the gift of the one righteousness of Christ by faith.
