Alabama State Capitol at Night, Montgomery, Alabama. Constructed in 1851, it is considered one of the most beautiful buildings whose stately Corinthian columns and beautiful stairways attract the attention of all lovers of ante bellum architecture. The building served as the First Capitol of the Confederacy and a brass star between the two central columns of the portico marks the spot where Jefferson Davis took the oath of office as President of the Confederate States of America.
