  • Lithograph of Christmas Evans. 1881. Christmas Evans was born in Wales on Christmas Day, 1766. He taught himself to read using his Welsh Bible. After becoming convinced of the Baptist doctrine of baptism, Evans was baptized in 1788 in the river Duar. He devoted his entire life to the region around Anglesea, and took numerous preaching excursions throughout Wales. Evans died in Swansea on July 20, 1838. JPG file (349 KB)
