Woodhouse preaches on Psalm 137. Babylon exemplifies human arrogance and rebellion against God. As citizens of the new heavenly Zion, we likewise find ourselves in Babylon as exiles in a foreign land. The Psalmist understands God's rule in face of the schemes of the wicked. Verses 7-9 includes a cry for justice from God in light of great acts of evil. God will ultimately repay in full the wrongs committed against the Israelites. We must recognise that evil will never triumph, and that justice is in the hands of God. When we recall the justice of God, we can fully appreciate the depth of God's mercy towards us.
