  • Interview of Major Harwell G. Davis on May 5, 1971. Major Davis served as President of Howard College from 1938 until 1958. In this interview, Major Davis discusses his experience serving as an infantry office in the U.S. Army during World War I. Major Davis then discusses his experiences as President of Howard College, specifically the financial situation of the College when he was appointed president and the tremendous debt the college faced at the time. Major Davis also discusses his endeavor to finance the football program, and the reasons the football program was abandoned until World War 2.
