- Peterson preaches on the second line of the Lord’s Prayer. The first three petitions centre on God’s will being accomplished. The kingdom of God is His rule, and to enter it requires repentance, placing Jesus first, submitting fully to God, and believing the gospel. Praying for the coming of God’s kingdom expresses both the believer’s desire for God’s rule in their own life and their hope that others outside the kingdom will also come under His reign. Such a petition asks for God's purposes to be fulfilled and for all opposition of God to be put down and judged.
