Photograph of Robert Lee Robinson. 1920. On July 20, 1874, Robert Lee Robinson was born in Hampton County, South Carolina. He was converted on October 17, 1893, and was baptized the next day. Robinson was educated in public schools, in which he taught for five years after graduating. He served in the army during the Spanish-American War. After working in the insurance business for five years, Robinson felt God’s call on his life and he entered Mercer University in 1907. He took classes at both Mercer University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, eventually graduating from Mercer in 1910. Soon after graduating he was ordained and entered the pastorate of the Conyers Baptist Church. While there he also pastored the Stone Mountain Church. In 1916 he began the pastorates at Woodville and Union Point. JPG file (187 KB)
