Description
  • Nicholls speaks on Psalm 8. David marvels at the name of God. God is not merely an abstract and impersonal force. The name of God is a key concept throughout the entire Bible and is a key link between Old and New Testaments. David is drawn to praise by God's unexpected ways. David is conscious of God's covenant with His people and the promise to be their God. God's name is glorified in all of creation, disarming the schemes of the wicked through the praise of the weak and insignificant. When creation is considered by David, the King is drawn to praise for the Creator who notices and cares for mankind. All of God's work reflects the character and nature of its creator. Psalm 8's description of mankind's dominion is ultimately fulfilled in the kingship of Christ.
