  • Lithograph of John Milton. 1881. On December 9, 1608, John Milton was born in London, England. He studied at the University of Cambridge for seven years. Milton is most famous for Paradise Lost, published in 1667. He outlined his religious beliefs in his Treatise on Christian Doctrine, which argued against infant baptism. He died on November 8, 1674.
