Description
  • Throughout the talk Smith explores the Old Testament references. Follows m4879, as not all of this passage was covered. 1. 12:1-3 - Those who genuinely trusted in God. Putting off things that hinder us from trusting God, and continuing towards Jesus as he leads. 2. 12:4-11 - The price paid by the readers. The need for disipline and suffering for sanctification. All believers experience suffering. 3. 12:12-17 - perserverance and care. Aims for peace and holiness, and don't fall short as we reflect God. 4. 12:18-24 - refers back to Exodus. Jerusaleum on earth mimicks Jerusaleum in heaven. Israel as God's firstborn on earth mimicks those with faith as God's firstborn. 5. 12:25-29 - warnings from above, and the reasons to heed the warnings. 6. 13:1-6 - the tempations people face and how to live in contrast. 7. 13:7-19 - living in light of a new Jerusaleum, especially praying for leaders. Continuation of m4779. Cassette label reads : "Lectures to students at Sydney Missionary and Bible College Hebrews B. Smith L 19, 20 1987"
