  • Michael Dukakis and Eric Motley (left to right) sit in Reid Chapel. Dukakis was the 65th and 67th Governor of Massachusetts, from 1975 to 1979 and 1983 to 1991 respectively. He was nominated by the Democratic Party for president in the 1988 election, but lost to the Republican candidate, Vice President George H. W. Bush. He spoke at the Samford University campus in 1995. Eric Motley was the SGA president at the time.
