From the Foreword: ''From Hardship To Harvest traves the story of the development of the Canadian Free Church from its distinctly 'Norwegian' pioneer days to its becoming a multi-cultural 'Canadian' church. It is the account of the maturing of a home mission field of the U.S. Free Church into an autonomous Canadian missionary agency. Beginning in a little farming community in Southern Alberta, the author unfolds a story of sacrificial service and evangelistic endeavor. Ultimately, churches are planted as far as the Pacific in the west and Quebec in the east.''
