Steel work of the Watts Building. The site was once used by the Traders Bank. Mr. Charlie Allen Sr., who built the Jefferson Theatre and many other large buildings in B'ham, was the Contractor. When the work was about the stage shown in the photograph, a steel beam slipped free while being hoisted aloft and crashed down but no one was injured. The building is owned now, 1957, by Southern Natural Gas. Co.
