- Ice House on Joseph Wheeler's plantation property. Following the American Civil War, Joseph Wheeler and his family moved near Courtland, Lawrence County, Alabama where he became a lawyer and a planter. In 1880, Wheeler would be elected from Alabama to the United States House of Representatives.
