  • Lucas shows that the filter to read through is evidence, faith and life from the end of John 20, and reminds the audience of John's aim is that we should believe in Jesus as Lord and God. Lucas places John 14 in it's historical context. He examines the actions of the disciples, as Jesus speaks to the disciples before he dies. Lucas examines Jesus' promises to the disciples : 1. have place in their Father's house 2. permanent access to the Father in the here and now 3. a share in the Father's work 4. have a constant awareness of the Father with them 5. thorough understanding of God's teaching Lucas explores the New Testament's focus on the end, expounding a variety of passages.
