Grace is the unmerited favour of God toward His people. Grace comes first, and obedience flows from it. Mary was prepared to be the mother of Jesus, whose conception was the work of the Holy Spirit. God brought about this miraculous event. Jesus took on the frailty of human nature, being born of a woman who, like all people, needed a saviour. He was conceived by one who knew both sin and the forgiveness of God. The personhood of Jesus was present from conception.
