Description
  • O'Brien preaches on the theme of prayer and thanksgiving based on Paul's prayer from Colossians 1:12-14. Thanksgiving indicates a thankful attitude of mind. For the Apostle, thanksgiving is expressed outwardly and is not merely an attitude or disposition. Thanksgiving is often mentioned within the context as an act of corporate or public nature. Thanksgiving can be viewed as an outward expression of an inward gratitude that seeks to encourage others in the same activity. From the passage, thanksgiving is joyfully offered to the Father. God is praised for His actions on our behalf. Paul gives thanks for the past (the deliverance from the kingdom of darkness), the present (the forgiveness of sins), and the future (the kingdom of God) actions of God.
