- Gabriel Moore (ca. 1785-1845) served as Governor of Alabama from 1829 to 1831. Originally from North Carolina, Moore settled in Huntsville in the early 19th century. Moore was a representative to the Mississippi and the Alabama Territorial Houses and later served in the Alabama Senate and the U.S. Congress.
