Lithograph of Robert C. Buckner. 1881. Robert C. Buckner was born in Madisonville, Tennessee, on January 3, 1837. He was a graduate of Georgetown College. Buckner made a profession of faith in October 1844. He was pastor of Baptist churches in Albany, Owensborough, and Salvisa, Kentucky; and Paris, Texas, for 27 years. Buckner was the first Kentucky agent of the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. He served as moderator of the Red River Association, Texas; superintendent of Orphan Home work in Texas; president of the Sunday School Convention in Northern Texas; secretary of the Texas Baptist General Association; and editor of the Texas Baptist.
