  • Lithograph of Richard Briscoe Cook. 1881. On November 11, 1838, Richard Briscoe Cook was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his elementary education in public schools and at Newton University. He was baptized on April 12, 1857. In 1859 Cook entered Columbian College to prepare for ministry; he graduated in 1863 with an A.B. degree with honors. In 1866 he received the degree of A.M. Following his ordination in 1864, Cook became pastor of the Baptist church in Holmesburg, Philadelphia. In 1875 Cook became pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Wilmington, Delaware. He served as vice-president and president of the Philadelphia Baptist Ministerial Conference. He died in 1916. JPG file (367 KB)
