  • The Chapel, accommodating approximately 2,000 persons, is the the home of Duke University Church (Interdenominational). The interior is finished in limestone, acoustical brick and oak. The 73 stained-glass windows are devoted to characters and stories from the Old and New Testaments. The 7,791-pipe Aeolian Skinner Organ is in six-parts; the console has four manuals. In the Memorial Chapel are Sarcophagi of Washington Duke and his two sons, James B. and Benjamin N. Duke. Beneath the Memorial Chapel is the Crypt, containing twenty burial vaults.
