  • Photograph of James Britton Cranfill. 1923. James Britton Cranfill was born in Parker County, Texas on September 12, 1858. He earned his MD and LLD, but spent most of his life as Texas Baptist editor, publisher and writer. He was the founder and editor of The Texas Baptist Standard (1892-1904), and editor of The Baptist Bookman.
