  • Note to Mrs. Constantine Perkins from J. C. Van Dyke of the "sum of thirteen dollars for mid-wifery for her blak family by my old woman Fanny, and for other attentions during her illness." Mrs. Constantine Perkins was the wife of Constantine Perkins, a veteran of the Creek War (1813-1814). He also served in many political roles - elected district solicitor, attorney general of Alabama, to the state House of Representatives, and to the State Senate.
