  • Monumental Church - Erected on the site of the Richmond Theatre in commemoration of the appalling disaster which occurred the night of December 26th, 1811 when the theatre was totally destroyed by fire and 72 persons, including the Governor of Virginia (Geo. W. Smith), perished in the flames.
