Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Duke University);Format: Manuscript codex.;Title supplied by the cataloger.;Layout: Written in 1 column of 27 lines; 27 lines ruled on the hair side; some pricking marks visible in the fore edge margin.;Script: Three scribal hands represented: Scribe I: fol. 1-51r; Scribe II: fol. 51v-60r; Scribe III: fol. 60v-81v. Hand I is carefully constructed, with small precisely inscribed letters with a very fine nib in a brown ink, with a slight rightward slant in the direction of the writing. The small letters evenly spaced and with ample spacing between the lines give a "lacy" appearance. Uncials and minuscules are mixed. Hand II takes up on fol. 51v at the beginning of a new section. The ink, however, appears to be nearly the same color as that which precedes. Scribe II is less crafty and writes with greater haste than Scribe I. His letters are squarer in appearance. The hand is slightly more rightwardly slanted than that of Scribe I, but the combination of uncial and cursive letters appears to be nearly the same proportion. Hand III commences on fol. 60v with no perceptible change in ink color. Letter characteristics are the same for the period as of those of Hand I and II. However, the scribe is either careless or in great haste. Nearly vertical, they are openly spaced and poorly formed.;Decoration: In addition to titles in semi uncials, each section has been provided with ornamental scribal penwork divisions which extend with one exception across the width of the writing space and, again with one exception, only the height of one line. An example of the manuscript's ornamental penwork: the initial "T" is outlined at the head of fol. 51v; the stem is knotted and banded, terminating at the base with divergent curled foliage, the left form culminating in a point. The cross bar has acanthus leaf terminals, facing, and the top of the stem a fleur-de-lis finial with pointed element.
