A hole has been cut in the new altar into which the altar stone, containing relics of several saints, will be placed. The bishop consecrates the angles of the depression with holy oil and then puts the altar stone into its place in the altar. The sacrifice of the Mass cannot be offered on an altar unless the altar stone is present
