  • Photograph of Archibald Thomas Robertson. 1917. On November 6, 1863, Archibald Thomas Robertson was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. In 1875 his father moved the family to Statesville, North Carolina. At the age of 13, Robertson was converted and felt the call to preach. He graduated from Wake Forest College in 1885 with a MA degree, and he graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1888. He was ordained the year he graduated. Also, Robertson was elected to be Assistant Instructor of New Testament Interpretation. In 1892 he became Professor of Biblical Introduction, and in 1895 he succeeded John A. Broadus as Professor of the Interpretation of the New Testament. He published a multitude of works, perhaps the most significant being his Grammar of the Greek New Testament in the Light of Historical Research, published in 1914. Robertson died September 24, 1934.
