Margaret Thurston and Agnes Bongeor stand back-to-back, chained to a stake amidst burning faggots. Both women are fully clothed. The woman at the left has her hands clasped in prayer while the woman at the right has her hands outstretched to the crowd of soldiers and civilians that surrounds them. One soldier at the right of the image tends the fire. In the background of the image several hills and buildings, including churches, are in the distance. Revised version of Luborsky and Ingram 11223/89, which appears twice in the second (1570) and twice in the third (1576) early English editions, but differs from the engraving used to illustrate “The burning of Agnes Potten and Joan Trunchfield.” JPEG file (1.10 MB).
