  • Erected in 1775. Oldest Baptist Church in America. The first Baptist Church in America was founded by Roger Williams in 1638. The Present Edifice was erected in 1775 and is the oldest Baptist Church in America. Roger Williams was the first Pastor. Brown University, the leading Institution of Rhode Island, was largely founded by this Church.
