  • Interview of James G. Gann, Jr. on October 22, 1985. The interview was conducted by Irma Cruse. The following description was taken from the transcript of the interview: "The recording was made in order to secure information about the period during World War II when Howard College provided facilities for the V-12 Program of the United States Navy. James G. Gann, Jr., was one of the students who took part in the V-12 program for sixteen months. He has described his experiences in the military training that was a part of the program and that included further training as a midshipman at Notre Dame University. He has included in his account of the V-12 program a discussion of his studies at Howard [College], of his contacts with professors, students, and with the community around the college." Mr. Gann also includes details about his military service in the United States Navy overseas.
