"In the year 1836 the Venerable Archdeacon William Grant Groughton was consecrated Bishop of Australia in Lambeth Chapel on 14th February 1836 (Australia from 1811 to 1836 was included in the Diocese of Calcutta India). Bishop Broughton was installed in St James' Church Sydney on June 5th 1836, in which church he had his episcopal chair.
