Description
  • Exploring the opening exhortation of 2 Thessalonians 1:1-4, Woodhouse describes the contextual background of Paul and his co-worker’s ministry within Thessalonica as found in Acts 17:1-9 and 1 Thessalonians 2-3. Woodhouse places credence behind the theory that 2 Thessalonians is the earliest surviving correspondence by Paul, predating 1 Thessalonians, and was most likely written within a short period following their expulsion from Thessalonica. Drawing upon the significance of ‘those assembled in God,’ Woodhouse finds parallels and a direct connection to Christian gatherings today. To know grace and peace reflects the spiritual reality of believers within the church. Our thankfulness for faith and its continued growth, alongside abounding love amongst believers within the church, should draw the believer to prayer.
