  • Church building with tower. Printed caption on back - The Unitarian Church in Charleston, South Carolina 1772-1972. Bicentennial. Established as part of Independent Church on Meeting Street, Revolution delayed completion of Archdale Street structure until 1787. Called Second Independent Church in 1817 after becoming Unitarian. So named by Charter in 1839. Architecture dates from 1852-54 when interior was remodeled after Henry VII Chapel of Westminster Abbey. Includes picture of cemetery in foreground. Color photograph.
