  • Just off Interstate 59 and U.S. 11, Hammondville, Ala. Sequoyah Caverns is named after the Cherokee Indian who invented the Cherokee alphabet while living in this area. The caverns are open from sunrise to sunset and offers a forty minute guided tour of unusual stalagmites, stalactites, columns, draperies and other speleological lore. Refreshment stand. Picnicking.
