  • Lithograph of John Leland. 1881. John Leland was born in Grafton, Massachusetts, on May 14, 1754. He was converted in 1774. Later the church in Mount Poney, Culpepper County, Virginia, where he had been attending, ordained him. He led innumerable revivals throughout Virginia. When he felt he had exhausted his work in Virginia, he moved back to Massachusetts. There he continued to preach until his death on January 14, 1841. JPG file (347 KB)
