Lithograph of David Benedict. 1881. David Benedict was born on October 10, 1779 in Norwalk, Connecticut. He was converted at the age of twenty. In 1806 he graduated from Brown University and later served on their Board of Trustees. Benedict pastored the Baptist church in Pawtucket, Rhode Island for twenty-five years. For many years he gathered historical information on Baptists. He published several works including: History of the Baptists, Abridgement of Robinson's History of Baptism, Abridgement of History of the Baptists, History of all Religions, and Fifty Years Among the Baptists. He died December 5, 1874 at Pawtucket, Rhode Island. JPG file (367 KB)
