  • San Xavier Del Bac Mission is located 10 miles south of Tucson near the banks of the Santa Cruz River. It was established by Father Kino in 1692 and is one of a chain of three started in Arizona by this adventurous priest. It stands in the amidst of the hogans of the Papago Indians, direct descendants of those peoples for whom it was conceived and built. Services are conducted regularly by the padres for these Indians.
